My sweet little room.

I love my room, now*.

Lower East Side isn't half bad, either.

Being a teacher sounds pretty good, too.

I guess I shouldn't have been worried...

*Except for the HEAT...it must be a million degrees in here. Yikes!

Goodbye, Chicago!

Well, it's official. My move has begun. My parents have texted me "On the way!" and the view outside my bedroom window already looks more nostalgic.

I am not going to allow much sadness over this move. I have been here for five years, enjoying what Chicagoland has to offer, and that makes me lucky. I am heading for a lot of good things: great summer jobs, time with my wonderful family this summer at home, and a new, exciting job come September. I will dearly miss my roomie and friends, and this city, but I will be back. I see no point in getting too sad. This isn't a forever goodbye...Chicago, after all, is only a matter of hours (and no oceans!) away.

Time to wrap up the packing, enjoy some sunshine, vacuum the carpet, and then welcome my parents!

Thanks for the fun, Chicago!

I'll likely post next week, when the crazies settle down...

the apron display

a few days ago i was freshening up the apartment and i felt the need to nail something to the wall. (sometimes i just want to use a hammer.)

i had already put a nail up in the bathroom for my hair dryer, and one near the front door for lora's keys, so i really had to stretch my mind for an excuse. walking into my bedroom, it came to me! i have been storing my excessive and ever-growing collection of aprons on my bedroom doorknob, when i could be proudly displaying some of my favorite things!

i think it really adds something to the hallway. i also like looking at them together and thinking about the story behind each of them...

hope you put your favorite things on display!

a bit on my bedroom walls, as requested by sb

finally a little crafting post.

i was talking to sb last night and she asked that i post about the way i decorated the walls of my bedroom. before i begin, i must credit a post from How About Orange, which inspired the look.

basically, it's a great way to decorate rented walls with no damage, and an endless slew of possibilities. i had been envisioning a leaf pattern for my walls for a long time, but didn't want to go the route of paper cutouts--my college dorm strategy-- because of the fading, tape, and general one-use nature of them. then this blog solved the problem.

all you have to do is make your cutouts and then spray them down with spray starch (i used Niagara). it's a bit messy but it's not complicated. i just sprayed all of my leaves on top of a cardboard box. then, just use your fingers and smooth the cutouts onto your wall/bathroom door/dresser from ikea and use a little towel to mop up any drips. they stay on really well, but when you want to take them off it's just a simple peel!
